#subROV has been officially reviewed for the #SteamDeck with a result of "playable". This is great news -I didn't develop it thinking on any other device than a PC, much less a handheld!
Best of all, I think I've tackled all the issues that prevented it from being "recommended", and I've sent a new build for review 😄
Here's SOLARIS working in game. Operation is similar to the real unit, but streamlined: you get the "wand" close to the coral, and it starts measuring automatically once it's close enough. Then you have to keep it in range while it's measuring. I'm currently testing this build, and I expect to release it in beta tomorrow :D

I'm adapting the reactive oxygen sampler SOLARIS to the game. This tool was used on a schmidt ocean cruise a couple weeks ago; here's the game-ready 3D model I've just finished, and a picture of the real unit for reference. The game model is a portable variant inspired by the compactness of the version in the picture but with features drawn from the latest revisions.

After the cusk eel, I've been working on a magnapinna (big fin) squid. I started texturing it using footage from NOAA, but just 4 days ago schmidt ocean had a great sighting, so I ended up using their images instead.

The model is finished -I redid the unwrap from scratch so the seams are much less noticeable than before. In this test I'm looking at the tail's movement range (a bit much).

I'm revamping the tutorial dives; I had left them barren on purpose so people wouldn't get distracted, but in hindsight that was a terrible idea, because their first impression when they reach the seafloor is that the game is empty. Here you see a wreck in the distance, though most of the work this week so far has been under-the-hood, revising terrain generation and texturing.
