I'm fascinated by the idea of #Subsidiarity.

As I see it: Subsidiarity is a social & political organizing concept that matters ought to be handled by the most local or least centralized competent authority. Think of concentric rings whereby #political decisions should be taken at the most local level possible & only moving outward from necessity as determined locally, etc. Subsidiarity does not deny a centralized #government, but limits its power to only what it needs to do for the common good.

Don't get me wrong, the devolutionary ideas that it points towards (which seem to be borrowed from Brown's "Renewing our Democracy and Rebuilding our Economy" report) are important to achieving #subsidiarity, but aping Tory slogans in an attempt to pander to the lowest common denominator is a dick move.

So the term #reform, in general, but especially in connection with the #EU is completely euphemised to me:
In plain language, this means that they are planning new - albeit well disguised - messes with regard to #centralization and want to take away even more rights from the #MemberStates and hand them over to a centralized bureaucratic structure, including dismantling #democracy.
