Of course, there’s more to #synthesis than replicating acoustic instruments, but knowing the basics of how to produce similar sounds also gives you a better idea how to produce weirder, more alien sounds 👽👾🤖👹😈

VCOs and VCFs are barely even half the story when it comes to #AnalogSynths, but they’re the foundational building blocks to analog #SubtractiveSynthesis. Everything else hangs off this.

Buuuut this is long enough for now. So I’ll save that for next thread!

Whew, this is already getting long, and I haven’t even started on how #synths actually…do anything. Seems like a good spot to end for now though.

Next installment, I want to talk about #AnalogSynths and #SubtractiveSynthesis, and actually start describing some of the commonly used parameters, and how they affect the final sound or “patch.”

This concludes Synthesizers 101.

It’s been all about subtractive synthesis tutorials these past few days and have surprised myself with how much I’m enjoying learning! Envelopes and oscillators… and the incredible sounds!!! Out of this world!!
