In case you missed it: the Wired piece on trolling of AO3 and other shitty/shifty stuff to steal content to "train" it's program by stealing other people's intellectual property.

I glanced at twitter today and saw a link to a announcement with a video of their AI tool which helps you get going on writing a story, book or other content using AI prompts. I played with it for five minutes starting to frame out my . In that context it would be a huge help starting a biography and getting a non-trained writer to frame the story with common writing concepts the casual user would not plan for ie adding the conflict etc.

It's been a metaphorical fifteen minutes and generative ai like and are already having a greater impact on society than Blockchain & crypto ever did. Really happy to see the cultural zeitgeist move to tech that actually DOES something! Smart minds will be arguing for years whether it's for good or ill, but in the meanwhile this profile of a fiction author using probably has some tips that could be useful for GM's with their

E agora...well, see you in Hell, my friends

I was randomly reading r/novelai, and in a thread decrying how has been focusing so much on their heavily waifu-based image generator, someone mentioned as a good alternative fiction writing assistant.

So I made a surreal story with it.

Here it is!

Some of the results from writing apps are very good. And some...are not.

How does do this? Well, it is an AI tool that takes the content I have already written, and suggest improvements for me. For instance, it takes a phrase, and using the describe function, it comes up with alternatives using taste, touch, sight, and sound. My prose is already a lot punchier. I broke that block and wrote 300 words of original content in a little over half an hour.

I like to write and it has long been a goal of mine to write my first novel. I have been trying to write this for a very long time and, like so many, when I start to commit my words "to paper", that little voice in my head is whispering, "who are you kidding? This stuff is rubbish". By chance, last week, I saw a conversation about a tool called (sudowrite.com/) and it is giving me the confidence to get past my inner critic.

It's funny. I have been trying tools like and to hone my book blurb. As I try and write hints for the , I'm ending up making my blurb better with my own words--not the . Refining the AI-generated text is really just a forcing function FOR ME to write a better book blurb. Occasionally the AI adds an element I can use, but mostly the AI writes souless, mechanical prose.
