This is insane.

With #Brexit, England's #SugarBeet farmers lost legal protections against cheap #SugarCane imports, and the Brexiteer government exacerbated the problem by agreeing to massive tariff-free quotas of cane.

Now said government os, contrary to European environmental norms, sanctioning the continued use of a bee-killing insecticide designed to target aphids that dine on beet leaves.

Lunacy.

It’s #sugarbeet season! Here #BritishSugar are orchestrating the weather in #Suffolk. Clouds pluming out of the chimney visible from the #A14 - it was a clear blue day to the west, but thick mist for our family walk 15 miles east of here yesterday.
