Another #Summernats photo, this time we have a collection of racing mowers parked up for the night.
I think mower racing is a great example of 'don't knock it until you've tried it'. It sounded silly when I first heard about it, but now that I've seen it first hand, I'm hooked! I've spent hours on Gumtree looking for cheap mowers to modify. This may have been an awakening...
For the uninitiated, I have also included a shot of the mowers preparing to race. Please forgive the photo being taken through a Cyclone fence, but with such raw horsepower so nearby I needed to think of my safety.

I've opted to explore an eclectic and little understood member of the animal kingdom today: the #Summernats attendee.
While it usually takes months or years for me to get around to editing my photos, I had so much fun at Summernats yesterday I wanted to upload something right away.
While I took heaps of photos of amazing cars, I feel that this pic sums up what makes the event special. Rules are loose, comradery is high and everyone is there to be stupid and have a good time.
This photo is titled: 'Hey Stevo, what do we do now? - I dunno mate, it's a real head-scratcher'

@mativity but now I'm wondering ....
Does the #Summernats have their own Masty instance? Are the rev-heads only focused on cars or are they also making snarky comments about us in return?
Itβs #summernats weekend and the air is thick with car exhaust and the streets with souped-up old cats and 4WDs.
I went for a walk and almost choked on the fumes. Iβm surprised half the birds havenβt fallen off their perches, the exhaust is do thick.
I have about 8 #Currawong refugees huddled on my veranda tonight.
This might be a stupid question but can you do burnouts in an electric vehicle?
It's that time of year again in Canberra, where the revheads descend on the nation's capital to show off their beasts and the city is filled with the sound of large engines, the smell of burning petrol and a huge increase in the mullet count.
The Summernats City Cruise drives right past my office and even though I'm not that into cars, it seems churlish not to take a look.

Ahhhh, Lonsdale Street (for Ramen because Ramentic do a great Spicy Pork Ramen) with the reverberating sounds of endlessly revving engines and a near constant stream of ludicrously pimped out muscle cars.
Must be time for #SummerNats in #Canberra.
It may not be cool to live in the deep south of Canberra: the govt ignores us, takes away all our community facilities, treats us as a transport hub, and actively runs down the infrastructure in order to lavish money on the trendy inner north/south and the CBD, mainly to attract tourist dollars....
BUT....
Every January we get our cumuppence when #Summernats comes to town and, ironically, attracts tourists... π€£...while we sit here smugly in the peace and quiet of the south.
Ugh, it's that time of year again ππππππππππ
And I was wondering last night why there were so many hoons... ππ
In Melbourne I lived in Kensington and Flemington for years and would have to put up with Spring Racing Carnival crowds every November. In Canberra we live on Northbourne Avenue not far from EPIC, so it's Summernats every January. I can hear the cars going up and down past our house now.
I prefer Summernats. There's lots of noise and burning rubber, and its not great for the environment, but there are fewer dead horses.
[insert horsepower joke here]
