Contrasting #SupermanReturns, I won't be seeing #DialOfDestiny very soon, maybe not even in theaters. I like #IndianaJones fine, but I wasn't thrilled w/ #CrystalSkull, and I knew DoD wouldn't have #KarenAllen, so I have less incentive to see it. I don't think you can expect an aging audience to pack theaters time and again.

Deadline says #DialOfDestiny's box office so far is slightly ahead of disastrous 2006 July 4 weekend release #SupermanReturns. I saw Superman Returns that weekend and didn't think it was a disaster. It wasn't super or terrible; it was ok, but I suppose WB expected more. I guess #Disney got caught up in the Indy hype despite all the reasons they shouldn't have. Too bad for them.

I disliked that #ZackSnyder made #Superman and #Batman kill, but I understand why he did. He wanted to portray superheroes hardened by the ills of the postmodern world. In a way, that's better than #BryanSinger's #SupermanReturns choice to play it ultra-safe and homage #RichardDonner.

Even though there hadn't been a Christopher Reeve "Superman" movie in nearly 20 years, Brandon Routh still felt like he was channeling the late star when he made "Superman Returns.
