I gave up all social media two years ago and said I wouldn't use it again until I could pay for it. Well, here I am. Consider throwing some money toward your server admins to help pay for the cost of keeping their Mastondon insurance going. It's way better to pay for a product than to be the product.

Doing some clean-up work on birdie site using @semiphemeral and locking down accounts. Going forward, those accounts will only be used for occasional lurking.

The #fediverse is now my home! And, by the way, I don't care if I ever get more followers, etc. The really cool thing here is the community and the absence of ads and sponsored content. And yes, I do think that one should (financially) support one's server when possible. In my case it's fosstodon.org #CleanUpMonday #SupportYourServer

People shld ideally donate to their servers via #LiberaPay + #Stripe. Not Patreon/PayPal.

It's not entirely transparent, esp #Patreon, but LiberaPay+Stripe likely cheapest

1) there are no platform fees
2) if Stripe is chosen, payment processor fees are lower than #PayPal + usually as cheap as it gets in ecommerce merchant terms

Smaller one off donations are probably better on PayPal though

Every penny counts!
