Turning the vectors into flowers. These aren’t based on a specific flower, but I’m liking this direction.

Version two of the Hyla charted design.
On the one hand, Hyla is apparently a name meaning a variety of things (depending on whether a given baby name site claims it’s of Hebrew, Latin, or Greek origin). On the other hand, it’s the genus for tree frogs.
My great-great-aunt was named Hyla; her father was familiar with animal taxonomy. Your guess is as good as mine about the intent there.

This month’s word suggested by my Patreon is Twist. Second cable pattern in a row! (For my Patreon, that is.)

And here’s this week’s blog post, a (not encoded) charted design I’ve called Starry Meadows:

Browsing through my stitch pattern blog posts for work reasons, and I was suddenly taken by the designs I based on the word “Boundary”:

This month’s word suggested by my Patreon is Cable. I called the resulting stitch patterns “meta Cable” to make them easier to search for.
I’m always amused by this category of word.
This time I broke out of my usual habits and used the encoding to make a cable stitch pattern, to which I added some lace.

I'm seeing so much lovely work on #PortfolioDay! Keep em coming!
I'm a Scottish #illustrator, #graphicdesigner, #comics creator and #SurfacePattern #designer based in #Leeds

Okay, one last post using the Quirky design as a starting point, but this one is about trying out column deletion to make new charts from existing charted designs. (Row deletion would work just as well, I just didn’t try it in this post.)

In this week’s blog post I played around with arrangements of the different vertical bands from Quirky. I wasn’t terribly methodical or instructional, but I hope that sharing the different arrangements will still be inspirational!

This week’s blog post contains two layouts of the third excerpt from the Quirky charted design. This is the simplest extract, but it has its uses!

This week’s blog post is another excerpt from the Quirky charted design. One more to go! Probably. There might be more…

Today I posted an excerpt from the Quirky charted design that I think works well as a design by itself.

This month’s word suggested by my Patreon is Quirky. I’m fond of the word, and my design methods are more than a little quirky themselves! I turned the letters of the word into numbers, charted the numbers in various ways, and then picked two charts to turn into lace and a charted design respectively:

Today I’ve posted a charted design based on a different layout of the word “enough”. While I’ve illustrated it as if it’s knitting, the chart can be used for all kinds of crafts: cross stitch, filet crochet, quilt layouts, bead weaving, and so on. Heck, even bathroom tiles would work.

This week's regular blog post is a stitch pattern based on a motif that reminded me of bats. Once I added in some contrast flecks to make stranded knitting possible, it looked as if there were constellations behind the bats.

This month’s word for my Patreon is Flow, which is something I strive to include in my lace designs. I turned the letters of the word into numbers, charted the numbers in various ways, and then picked two charts to turn into lace and a charted design respectively:

For this week's blogging, I've done some big edits on four older blog posts. This is going to be an ongoing series.
There's one lace knitting stitch pattern, and three charted designs. I still like all of them, and now I like how they're presented much better

This week’s blog post is a charted design I’ve been thinking about for a long time, based on an oval pattern I’ve seen in multiple charts.

This week’s blog post is another outtake from the Kelpies charted design. I saw columns of almost-stars in it, and here are the completed ones.
