It's impossible to overstate the influence Christo and Jeanne-Claude's surrounded islands (1983) had on the aesthetics of Miami in my childhood. I saw this rendering at the Perez Art Museum yesterday and I'm pondering this project anew and curious about effects on the ecosystem. I know they cleaned up literal tons of trash before wrapping the islands but I haven't seen much discussion of effects on plants and wildlife and the land.
