Irony of the Surry Hills heritage building fire?

Developers can now raise a glass of champagne to the fact that their expected maintenance and development bill went up in flames, and can be replaced with a simpler development plan.

It’s astounding the amount of sympathy developers are receiving from uncritical news outlets*, when this disaster not have occurred if the property were properly managed, and not allowed to be derelict.
