You're at a restaurant on a very exciting 1st or 2nd date (i.e. you don't know each other very well at all). It's going ...*ahem*... very well. Date suggests you continue the evening at their apartment. (Oh, this is going sooo well!)

You arrive, they grab a couple drinks, sit close to you on the couch...

And then you notice they have an Amazon . And then you notice a couple of internet-connected security cameras. You know that those home assistant thingies are corporate hot mics and employees have been caught recording and listening to people. You know that IoT cameras ship with notoriously weak security and get hacked all the time, with creeps watching in real time or posting revenge videos later. It's a tiny apartment, so there's no escaping the electronic ears and eyes.

So, you:

(Based on the previous poll about QR codes, this one will be even more amusing. Give it a boost, will ya?)
Is a thing? Maybe it should be.

@ahorsewearsajortsofcourse
That's what I assume. In which case I'm out of any server that doesn't defederate with them, which negates much of the value of Meta being interoperable...which is something we've been saying most of the social web should be.

There has to be some sort of workaround that blocks Meta's data vampirism, but allows interoperability...? I have had the same question about Tumblr, Flickr, et al.
