Fines for #SurveillanceCapitalist companies do absolutely nothing because:

1) the fines are so insignificant that its just a cost of doing business for them and they will continue to commit crimes anyway

2) the money rarely ever reaches the abused.

Hah, on #RNZ they're just noting that the #NZGov't used #GoogleAnalytics among other (foreign) 3rd party #SurveillanceCapitalist services on its online census service. It's embarrassing that we're still dealing with this. Thanks @thomasbeagle for being sensible. Gov't staff assurances "that everything is compliant" are bullshit - the people giving them clearly don't have the skills to credibly offer them.

Stop playing with #chatGPT, dont skip to the disinformation apocalypse by feeding it more data. Why is it so hard to understand that every #SurveillanceCapitalist tool, whether it is instagram, twitter or chatGpt thrives on pure use.

Just stop using it goddamnit. Watch the space carefully, but stop using it and having "fun" with it. Your fun will lead to exactly what you claim to be fighting.

If this happens, it is good. But also bittersweet, as its unknown what role for #FreeSoftware remains, with the increase of corporate interests. #Fediverse is arguably so delightful and refreshing by the total lack of corporate hypercapitalist influences with #FOSS projects and open standards all the way.

Hence it is more human-scale, forged by humans for humans. #HumaneTechnology and not a #SurveillanceCapitalist hellhole that any centralized #SocialMedia walled garden platform is.
