I used to follow #Survivalism in the 70s. I lost interest when it occurred to me there was no plan for leaving oneās individual isolated bunker. No society. Why survive, then?
In a sci-fi short story I later read, the protagonist awakens after a nuclear holocaust. Opening line, paraphrased: āI must go out, find my wife, and kill her.ā Individuals were on their own, and would die slowly and terribly. The lucky ones were already dead.

#Stoicism and #Survivalism (real or imagined) have a lot in common, as it's a focus on what CAN be controlled. The difference is that the latter has a person fantasise about controlling everything, whereas the former is about coming to terms with what can and cannot be controlled.

Okay, maybe you are able to do it. You might still be treated like an outsider by the locals and Instagram owns those influencer photos you took. You will feel lonely.
This #selfsufficiency thing is a life-long process that requires a lot of humility and continuous repetition of boring simple things.
