@vwbusguy @keepassxc I use google wear watch, thus I also use Authenticator app on phone. It nicely gives the totp to #Suunto 7 watch as well. Handy. And btw, I keep most of the totp in #keepassxc, but frequently used ones in the both.

@Hitsch very happy with my #garmin fenix 7s solar. I have the S version, as the smaller the sensor, the more accurate it is for HR readings on the wrist.

The connect app is a disappointment, and the maps are ugly in explore. Therefore, I sync every activity to the #suunto app, which has up-to-date maps associated with a great #map style. You'll find also ergonomic features on top of the map providing dataviz or business intelligence functionalities applied to outdoor sports.

I decided to replace the battery in my #Suunto Observer and wear it as a daily watch.

I purchased this watch in 2001 and it worn primarily for mountain hikes, where I would climb peaks 4,000-5,000 feet in elevation.

The last I wore this watch (~2017), I was about 70 pounds heavier than I am now. As such, it sit on my wrist more as a bracelet than a watch. You can see a 9-volt batter between the watch an my wrist to illustrate.

This is frustrating. This is a power chart of my recent run in Stryd's PowerCenter.

The yellow line is my running power. It should be a mostly smooth line, but instead you see all these vertical drops to zero. Dozens and dozens of them.

According to #Stryd, this is because #Suunto isn't recording data for 1 second at those drops.

Rather than ignore it in the chart, like every other analysis tool does, Stryd shows you each and every power drop.

You know, if #Stryd could pair to multiple devices simultaneously (like my #Polar HRM can), then I wouldn't need second foot pod for running on the treadmill.

But, I want to track running power data in my #Suunto app (not just Stryd's PowerCenter), which means pairing Stryd with my watch, not #Zwift. Thus, I need another foot pod for tracking cadence and pace in Zwift.

At least Zwift is running a 50% discount on their RunPod right now. Twenty bucks isn't bad.

…you can actually run without a sports watch?

no smartphone is actually required to run. no gps tracking, heartrate sensor, strava uploads. no music, no audio hints or motivational audio. you can, you know, just run. i think this was how people did this before all that. probably learned it from animals.

this is fantastic. do you remember when you did that last without any gadget? i'll need to try it some time.

I have a #Suunto 9 Baro as my exercise watch. Here are 5 gripes I have with it.

1. Lacks a track mode for detecting a standard 800m track.
2. Lacks support for an including incline during treadmill workouts.
3. Doesn't ignore chairlift rides for alpine skiing and snowboarding.
4. Detecting ski and snowboard runs is horribly wrong.
5. Same with detecting swim laps.

From what I'm reading, these are not problems with #Garmin or #Coros watches.

Not my best year, but certainly not my worst either. Due to increased travelling and being sick more often, I lacked consistency in 2022, but I still managed some decent #hiking, a few #running and #trailrunning races, and a #mountaineering trip to the Alps.
