It's worth noting that everything actually related to #inxi development lives either on smxi.org or in inxi-perl branch of the inxi github repo. The main html docs are also found in the inxi-docs branch.

This way of organizing data come from the original use of #SVN, which was perfectly designed for my work flow, including having real physical directories for branches etc, making it very clean and easy to understand. Trying to force git to behave this way is very difficult, so I use a hack: >

In an effort to make myself more marketable to the web agencies, I am reading up on current WordPress docs and methods for making themes and plugins.

Then I read they use SVN. I didn't know that was still a thing for popular projects.

@photex there was SVK, back in the day. I recently looked it up again (after I set up an #SVN repo exposed as a WebDAV share over Apache for personal #orgzly use), and it seems to have vanished from the Web sometime between 2020 and 2008.

But the basic idea, IIRC, was that you would clone an SVN repo locally, interact with it using the usual svn commands, and then push/pull between your local repo and upstream via svk-specific commands.

I don't suppose git-svn would work for you?

After running subversion for many many years, I’ve finally taken the plunge and migrated everything to git with a local install of gitea.

The migration took some figuring out but I ended up with a fairly straight-forward script...
