@dadandtwo Look up #swales and #SlowTheFlow for land management that improves water retention without watering. Also #permaculture design can give good sight specific ideas. We have used all of these on our 2 acres where flooding can be as much a problem as drought.

Antes de hablar de riego es tiempo de comenzar de hablar de cosechar el agua cuando llueve de manera eficiente y coherente.

Parece que es tiempo de hablar de #swales, zanjas de recoleccion de agua y de arados de aflojar el subsuelo.

In my research on #wetlands, I’ve been to some spectacular, internationally important places. Canoed the turquoise waters of the Columbia #floodplain Wetlands, hiked to #peatlands nestled in mountain valleys of the upper Bow River clamboured over dunes to #swales in the Long Point World Biosphere Reserve. My ❤️🔥in these wild places but more and more I’m thinking of #urban wetlands. Why? A short 🧵🪡

View from the gate: all summer we longed for rain, now the ground can’t take much more. The #swales we dug are full… the alders we planted still too small… we may have some #SeasonalFlooding I wonder if we should start to do more to retain winter water for summer months. Anyone got a good cheap system?
