I've been wondering for quite some time how hierarchies emerge in nature. What can we learn from nature to build more effective #robot #swarms?
Karthik Soma has examined how congestion, both physical and in terms of communication, can affect the information flow in an egalitarian agent society, limiting their scalability in terms of agent density. The emergence of hierarchies (as division of labour) can mitigate the issue. #robotics
