#GreatAlbums1990s – #ScreamingTrees - #SweetOblivion (1992). One of the earliest bands to be tagged as “grunge,” the Trees had roots more in 60s nuggets like The Seeds or Count Five than the 70s punk plundered by their Seattle-area brethren. Mark Lanegan’s whiskey-cured voice gave songs like “Nearly Lost You” and “More or Less” a flavor more bluesy than grungy, bolstered by the Connor brothers’ sinuous fretwork and Don Fleming’s meaty production.

Yesterday on YouTube I saw #TheCharismaticVoice analyze #Queensryche. Elizabeth’s comments about #GeoffTate ‘s voice being as silky as milk chocolate sent me down the rabbit hole. Ofc I am a few years late to the party but #SweetOblivion featuring #GeoffTate is really great #progrock
