The last of the #Snowstorm has passed #SweetPeaGardens. Still bitterly cold winds. Now to feed Ruthie who is sheltering in the garage. #FeralCats.

After months of feeding #FeralCat GiGi at the #SweetPeaGardens garage she seemed tame enough to trap. She shunned the cat bed in favor of the sink for her first night at the farmhouse. Then off to the vet. Turned out she was already spayed so she likely had a previous home. She’s about 6. BarneyBarncat fell in love with her. Syd grudging shares treats with her.
After two years GiGi sadly passed (kidney disease). She had a couple of good years.

This summer I went to #Sonoma and picked up some lovely #GardenIdeas. Maybe one day at #SweetPeaGardens. But let’s get over #Winter.

@ntfrnzn oh, we know! Meet Eloise. She was the best. Loved mealworm treats. Loves children (with mealworms). Loves sitting on laps. #SweetPeaGardens. #Michigan.

I say you can’t take a cat for a walk. They take YOU for a walk. I’ve learnt a lot about how cats behave, stalking chipmunks, using cover and shade, revisiting holes, and very importantly, knowing when to be alert. They always spot things at #SweetPeaGardens before I do.
Anyhow - let’s go for a walk!

Elusive #FeralCats caught on camera at #SweetPeaGardens. Usually very shy, very hungry, and very fierce if caught. They are hard to trap. Most know a trap when they see one. Several of our neighbors help monitor them. They all have names. We catch and neuter if we can. Just occasionally we find a tame one and get them fostered - probably an escaped house cat. In return for occasional food and warm and safe places to sleep they keep our #MichiganFarms free of rodents.

Looking back over my #SweetPeaGardens photos I found my #RaisedBed photos in their early stages. The beds produced loads of tomatoes, beans, salad, herbs, eggplant, peppers, squash, potatoes. Beet and carrot were total failures this year - no idea why!

So glad to see Ron this morning! Yet more #Snow in #Michigan at #SweetPeaGardens.
