It's like stretching out after being cramped into a box. No kicking again-I"m still uncertain about my lower back. But I can swim the 25 yards in one breath with no kicking. Which I started so I wouldn't have to twist to breath (back concern again). But now it's become a fun breath exercise.

My mile goal achieved, I'm now focusing on my improving time. This first outing was 22 laps in 29 minutes. NB: that's 22 40 yard laps—this elegant old pool is an anomaly in yardage. I then went on to do 1280 yards, my current minimum. My goal is a 50 minute mile. I'm open to any tips anyone has on how to improve time -- other than just swimming faster 😄

Achieved a personal best in the pool today. I'm inching up on a mile, the goal I set last summer, which was interrupted by elbow surgery and the flu. If I could keep in my brain how many yards are in a mile, I'd have kept going and made it today. Probably for the best--I tend to push things. Only 6 more laps, and I break the barrier.

Instead of looking at the other swimmers as disturbances creating sloshing conditions (we have no ropes), I realized we were doing group exercise individually. Like a fitness class or yoga group. Then I did as many laps as I've done since surgery in October.
