1/ #Storm at the #beach! Went to the #ocean on #CapeCod, MA yesterday to first relax, then go open ocean #swimming for fun and #exercise. Watched this ominous storm move by us for a couple of hours. Before the #swim, the wind began shifting dramatically (bringing the rain clouds toward us). The last of my #openmonumentendag visits – #DeRegentes is a former swimming pool now arts theatre. It opened on 22 April 1922 behind the frontage of a terraced house and ground floor business in Weimarstraat. By 1995 it could no longer compete with larger municipal pools, and it closed its doors. Its second life started when it was converted into a theatre. Many original features survive, including the tiled pool beneath the auditorium, and balcony changing cubicles.

Despite being an island, the UK has fewer formally recognised bathing sites per capita than nearly any other #European country...
But, we also have the fifth highest number of sites rates as 'poor'.
As Tim Fallon (LibDems/Cumbria) puts it: 'the UK is officially the sick swimmer of Europe, with water companies allowed to get away with foul polluting habits'!

Stievenart follows a unique regimen, consuming large quantities of oily fish akin to a seal's diet. This diet helps him build up fat reserves, a critical requirement when one needs to swim for hours in cold water.

I injured it sometime this spring, and it just hasn't recovered. So I visited a physiotherapist last week, and he informed me that I had a bog standard, easy to fix, rotator cuff injury.
So now I am the proud owner of some really large rubber bands and a very specific exercise routine.
I am avoiding other upper body work while this heals... but it turns out London is great for cycling.

Heute fand der Nibelungen-#Triathlon des TuS #Xanten statt. Eine tolle Veranstaltung. Wir haben als Staffel in der olympischen Distanz (1,5km 🏊♀️, 42km 🚴, 10km 🏃♀️) teilgenommen. Post-Covid-bedingt war ich froh, dass ich als Läufer die 10km irgendwie zu Ende gebracht habe. Aber es hat wieder einmal Riesenspaß gemacht. Danke an alle die, die dieses wunderbare Sportfest möglich gemacht haben. Toll! #running #cycling #swimming
