Got some new #switches to try on my #moonlander #keyboard. Trying some low travel, light switches to see how it feels

So everyone but their grandma brags about fancy red, brown, tactile and linear #keyboard #switches, but what about clicky ones?

I'd love to see a few guides to the "bad clicky" keyboard switches, eg. MX Blue vs. Kailh Blue, or if there are any better ones out there.

The flow I eventually fell into was to place a switch in lightly and press it to test it made contact (by seeing the key appear in the text editor) then press it in without worrying whether I got the pins in right.

I haven’t gotten to the Lego case yet but this is currently a fully-functional keyboard. (Albeit not the most comfortable to write on.)

Time for some dinner, me thinks. Will continue later :)

So the direction the switches are shown in the instructions is wrong. The pins have to be at the top, not the bottom (that’s where the holes are in the PCB). Double-checked it just to be sure I hadn’t done something odd.

Tip: you can plug the PCB into your computer and check each switch works as you plug it in :)

(Careful you don’t bend the pins when placing the switches. Make sure they go straight into the holes.)

With PCIe 4.0 that was sadly omnitted from the spec.

And yes there are valid reasons for it:
Like industrial #SBC-based systems which may even utilize passive #PCIe #backplanes that do #Bifurcation per #Chipset, omnitting the need for expensive PCIe #switches.
Kinda like the passive PCIe x16 => 4x NVMe (PCIe x4) cards.

So one would be able to add more stuff onto the backplane...

I don't mind bottoming out when using #Gateron #Yellow cap V2 #Switches (62.5g), I think it is normal when using slow springs, but I'm bottoming out very strong when I type fast., I think I might need a heavier spring.
