The only reason a group I know still plays 5e is the convenience of the e-book sharing through DND Beyond. For pure fantasy I’d rather try #TDE or #CypherSystem with #Planebreaker. I’d really like to find a group to play #TopSecretNWO.

Jetzt ist bei ihm angekommen was ich meinte als ich darum bat gewisse Dinge Zuhause zu haben. Er findet es JETZT nicht mehr übertrieben. Gar nicht so einfach gewesen ihn von den Folgen zu überzeugen,mußte erst so dicht ran kommen um ihm nochmal klar zu machen was es im Zweifel bedeuten kann wenn die Infrastruktur zusammen bricht.

Both 'Into the Odd' and 'Electric Bastionland' use the same style HP. It makes swift and deadly combat as a last recourse.

Setting Poisonsed, Encumbered from excess loot or Exhausted statuses to be mechanically expressed as HP = 0 means no margins for error when adventuring. It's a great way to add stakes to a grounded adventure game "deal with this quick or spiral".

I like both rules.

I really like how Cairn does hit points. I think I want to use it in my other OSR games, like #ose and #swn instead of the defaults.

HP now represents your energy in a fight, ability to block/dodge/parry without getting hurt. Once you hit 0 or less, you start taking damage to Con score and roll a con save after. Fail -> you are down and out. Con hits 0, you die for good. HP recovers to full with a Turn of rest.

Feels like this cuts some slog, but still fatal. Thoughts?

I'm also looking for extensible player facing systems; that is the game can easily grow with the players as they dig into the system. #5e can do this, but I also dislike the modifier ranges as they really impact the math; #swn gets it very right in my opinion.

With all of that, the rules must support me: 1) by facilitating interesting developments; 2) helping me help the players move with and through the system; 3) challenge the players & PCs.

Of course there are #Shadowdark and #TalesOfTheValiant out or coming out soon. But with #Hasbro’s #WotC’s latest scandal, I think people might be interested in adjacent systems or different systems altogether. Here are a few:

@chgowiz @Yora @Tim_Eagon I like the #WN system which is a bit Traveller, a bit B/X, and a bit Kevin Crawford. The more I’ve looked through #SWN and the supplements for it the more I think it’s great for B5; better than the actual B5 games (BP, 3, 3.5). With the upcoming Cities Without Number it seems to be a solid system to cover the science-fantasy genres with some minimal setting that can be used whole-cloth, cannibalized, or jettisoned altogether.

As the last shared toot said... my SWN game I prepped for fun is getting a play. My biggest change was taking the spaceship combat rules and porting them to mechs/tank platforms.

The PCs are members of an independent expeditionary force trying to re-establish contact with lost settlements.

@Alphastream @TuckerAuthor the core rules are not protectable. Look at #StarsWithoutNumber #SWN #WorldsWithoutNumber #WWN. It’s the SRD spells, monsters, powers, etc. that will not be available. North Wind Adventures, BRW Games, among others have said their systems will no longer be workable without access to the 3.5 SRD under 1.0-1.0a.
