Went to check out the Sydney Modern last night. It's a new expansion to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Feels nice and fresh, drawing a little bit of inspiration from Tassie's excellent MONA gallery. The headline exhibition is Adrián Villar Rojas
'The End of Imagination', which consists of a bunch of creepy biomechanoid statues in a darkened oil tank. #art #SydneyModern

Wow. Jaw drop moment. The new #ArtGalleryNSW #SydneyModern is a series of fabulous #Wunderkammern cascading down from the #BotanicGardens to the harbour. So many amazing artworks, particularly impressive are the pieces of giant, widescreen, video art.

53% of works displayed at Sydney Modern, the new extension of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, have been created by women.

They include large-scale works for which the expansion provides room, such as Lorraine Connelly-Northey's "Narrbong-galang (many bags)", Samara Golden's kaleidoscopic construction "Guts", and towering figures by Francis Upritchard.
