#HyperionBay s1e1 (1998) - 8/10

1️⃣ Slow-moving pilot. Light on plot, but heavy on character and character conflict.

2️⃣ It wastes no time getting to the core of the show. Scene 1 introduces #MarkPaulGosselaar and tells us he has returned to his home town after a long period, with his new lady (#SydneyPenny) in tow. Scene 2 is where they meet his high-school crush (#CassidyRae) and her Neanderthal husband. It works. You are pulled in, and you want to see how it all plays out.

1️⃣ TJH has one advantage over other ‘80s action shows. It can get straight to the action. Most episodes begin with a crime in progress. Next, Hooker and Romano answer the call and the chase is on. This time, we don’t even get a few lines of banter between the partners before the call comes in.

2️⃣ The chases/stunt driving are good here. Two instances of impressive driving from Shatner himself.
