It took me 36 minutes to drive 3.3km from Camperdown to Leichhardt tonight. (It’s usually a fraction of that, well under 10 minutes.) The cause? A cop car with its lights flashing parked in a No Stopping zone on Parramatta Road.

I don’t blame the coppers, they were likely attending to an emergency, but it is an indictment against Sydney’s transport system that it is so lacking in resilience that all it takes is one parked car to cause such inconvenience to thousands.

Thank goodness I booked enough time on my GoGet.

As an aside, is it only me who turns into a mouth-frothing monster when they get behind the wheel in Sydney? Driving in this town is just horrible. All the other selfish, inconsiderate, moronic, psychopathic drivers drag me down to their level and I hate that.

How do people who drive in this damned city every day put up with it?
