It took me 36 minutes to drive 3.3km from Camperdown to Leichhardt tonight. (It’s usually a fraction of that, well under 10 minutes.) The cause? A cop car with its lights flashing parked in a No Stopping zone on Parramatta Road.

I don’t blame the coppers, they were likely attending to an emergency, but it is an indictment against Sydney’s transport system that it is so lacking in resilience that all it takes is one parked car to cause such inconvenience to thousands.

Thank goodness I booked enough time on my GoGet.

As an aside, is it only me who turns into a mouth-frothing monster when they get behind the wheel in Sydney? Driving in this town is just horrible. All the other selfish, inconsiderate, moronic, psychopathic drivers drag me down to their level and I hate that.

How do people who drive in this damned city every day put up with it?

#WesternSydney #metro has a new artists impression video to go with the contract signing.

It's cool but since the whole place is basically paddocks the artists have nothing to work with, so each station is just bland sleek train station with an inordinately large number of people milling about on the pavement.

I must admit I had a laugh seeing all these business people just casually chilling outside St Marys station in what appears to be the middle of the day. But build it and they will come, I guess?

How commuting has changed in 3 years! I used to catch the train home from the city every afternoon. Come 5pm, and Town Hall Station was an absolute madhouse, people everywhere, queues for the gates, crowds on the platform, not a spare seat available in the carriage.

Now, catching the train back from the city at 5:30pm is like it's a weekend. I'm in a three seater alone, and there's a six-facer free! It's so weird.
