@histodons interesting attempt to tell the story of the #Nakba (war of 1948) from the point of view of Palestinians and Jews, simultaneously. It was noticeable for me, as an Israeli, that the Jewish experience is told from the point of view of a person (Robert Rinder) who has no roots in Palestine none whatsoever (the question of whether Eastern European Jews are ethnic Jews who have roots in the Middle East is another story), while Sarah Agha is a literal 2nd generation refugee from her ancestral home. There’s no comparison. The nostalgia some Jews had for the ”Land of Israel” is one thing, while losing your home and land as a result of a war you didn’t choose, is quite a different thing. Most Eastern European Jews chose to immigrate to North America, not Palestine before WWII. Also, Britain (with France and Russia initially) is, of course, directly responsible for the Palestinian Nakba, as a result of everything that followed the #SykesPicot colonial partition of the Middle East and its consequences.
