I’m clearly not a Beatles fan since I was like ‘oh, this is his song?’ when I got to #SylJohnson’s cover of Come Together on the Is It Because I’m Black album. Derp. (To be fair, Syl totally rocks it.) #NowPlaying

Remembering legend Syl Johnson (July 1, 1936 – February 6, 2022) gone one year ago today. The multi-talented singer, songwriter & producer wrote the powerful liberation anthem I'm Talkin' Bout Freedom (1970) https://youtube.com/watch?v=HNvcMxAst9Q for his Is It Because I'm Black LP.
As he eloquently laid the message down, "makes no difference who you are...or what color you happen to be...as long as you're alive and breathing...this has got to be one of your needs. I'm talkin' bout freedom!"
