My feelings on #Judaism haven’t changed much. Since probably March I’ve wanted to attend a service at my local #synagogue at least once, but my work schedule won’t allow me to do that at the moment. I guess what I’m looking for is what that experience really is, and maybe it’ll help shed some light on things. A “Is this really for me?” moment.

I learned that in Judaism, we are held accountable for our actions, not our thoughts. I found that refreshing coming from a Christian background. (2/3)

Just started dipping into this very cool book, that I borrowed from the #library.

The gobbet about "carrying on like a porkchop" caught my eye.

According to the author, it is descended from a 1950's phrase: "As useful as a pork chop in a #synagogue".

I have never heard THAT idiom!

But throughout the 1970s and 1980s my father would admonish me to not carry on like a pork chop.

This is a man who had migrated from Europe to Australia in the 1950s.

So clearly the phrase had evolved and changed meaning within the space of 20 years. It sounds too quick.
