World Heritage temple #Daikakuji in Saga-Arashiyama in northwest #Kyoto. The #temple and its pond were the palace grounds of #Emperor #Saga, who, like the T'ang Dynasty Emperors in the early 9th Century (a time of far higher #culture than today), was a pious patron of Buddhism, and of the great saint Kลซkai who contributed so much to the golden age of #Heian Period Japan. My forthcoming paper related to #Kukai was by request of a university in #Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh (where the Dalai Lama and his fellow exiles live). My interpretation of ancient #history from in situ research is that the Seto Inland Sea was part of the cradle of #Japanese #civilization in #Yamato (now #Nara), with a major settlement in what is now #Kagawa Prefecture on the nearby island of #Shikoku. I have a book about #Malinche with this painting by Alfredo Ramos Martรญnez from 1940, and I've begun to use her as the face of all my women ancestor workings since I don't have any good photos of my great-grandmothers. I set up a small little shrine for my first #MothersNight last night, using the book, lighting a candle, and offering some cranberry beer.
