describing to my friend how i can recognise a streamer + band members #guitar because of how their sliding and pick sounds "how rubber feels". which makes literally no sense but i don't know how to explain that feeling other than... it sounds like how rubber feels...

possible #synesthesia? idk. when i was a kid i could "hear" really loud and shrill sounds as purple, and i distinctly remember feeling that, but i haven't felt anything like that in a long time, except for the rare... sounds feeling like textures.

For a day in 1989, something in my parents' basement smelled cool, and I never knew what it was. Something about wood, paint, and autumn, but probably not any of these in reality. This smell had a sound associated with it in my mind, which I could never describe to anyone in a way that makes any sense, even to me. Whatever it is, I want it, and I can't have it.

Just finished Hester, by Laurie Lico Albanese. Enjoyed it very much, would recommend. It's a novel that imagines the life of the woman who inspired the character of Prynne from The Scarlet Letter.

Two interesting bits: #sewing and #synesthesia. Both play a prominent role in the heroine's life. My youngest has synesthesia and I thought the author did a good job describing it. The sewing had me enraptured.

Do you ever get...smell memories? Like, not a memory elicited by a smell, but you actually randomly smell something that's not actually there, and it brings up nostalgia about something else??
