I was wrong earlier. with #bamboo as a stock, 1/2 of the carbon is converted to #biochar while the other 1/2 can be captured as #syngas.

1 hectare of bamboo draws down 2 metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere per year. So that would be 1 metric ton permanently removed from the carbon cycle, and the other ton would be emitted from burning the syngas.

So you get 1 ton of drawdown, and 1 ton of emission reduction by replacing fossil fuels.

#UniversityOfCambridge 🇬🇧 scientists have developed a #Solar power #reactor that converts either #plastic or #CO2 into useful products. Their demonstration project used CO2 to produce #syngas and plastic bottles to produce #GlycolicAcid. Syngas is used to make ammonia and glycolic acid is used in cosmetics. By changing the #catalyst in the reactor other products are possible.
