#Synthtember No. 11 "Eddy's in the Spacetime Continuum". Thinking to shake things up a bit, today's #synthesizer improv is recorded in the box - an experiment for me insofar as this is my first experience using only native #Bitwig synths to compose a song. No meandering #psychedelic drone blowouts here - actual #electronic #music veering towards #synthpop - with an actual structure and everything. Wonders never cease!

(I'll be back to the weird interminable wooshy synth noises tomorrow.)

Time was not my friend for this one, so I decided to use it as an excuse to try out Pachde's Imagine image-to-control voltage module in VCV Rack. Pretty simple stuff, just one VCO with a bunch of filters and fx.

The last two nights I recorded my #Synthtember improvs direct to tape & everything sounded nice and fuzzy with a tasteful touch of distortion. Tonight I kept the same mixer settings and recorded direct into the Zoom and it's unlistenably distorted. Goes to show, analogue is a forgiving and friendly format. Digital is the audio equivalent of taking taking a portrait photo under a fluorescent light.

FSA / @screwtape #synthtember Day 2: what better way to follow up a virtual Lunetta patch than with a real one? Once again recorded in the wee hours of the morning, posting a little earlier this time.

For the curious, the name Lunetta comes from Stanley Lunetta (RIP), who pioneered the (ab)use of CMOS chips for cheap & nasty modular synthesis. There is some info (and links to more/better info) on this page of my website:

#Synthtember No.2 - this afternoon's all-analogue #synthesizer #improvisation - stereo desk mix recorded direct to tape. So - no edits (which is how I rationalise the bum notes and weird bits). I should probably edit the track to start from the 7 min mark - once the drum goes away, the track turns into a more interesting (for me at any rate) #psychedelic #drone #soundscape.

Friend @screwtape has invited me to take part in a #synthtember #TrackADay challenge, in part to help with raising funds to get a new MIDI controller following the failure of my K2000, but also just for fun. And! Its a new server refresh in anticipation of the upcoming #Synthtember recording festivities here at the Tryptophonic Workshop. Back to #Mastodon on account of my previous #Akkoma install going all wibbly-wobbly & the fact that I'm keen to be able to reliably upload audio tracks. We'll see how long it takes me to look at the Masto cache disk usage on my VPS & grumpily move to an alternative #activitypub server. Hopefully I can maintain server equilibrium until at least #Noisevember.
