I think René Muré already made a syrah (from Clos St Landelin?) as long as 8 years ago, and it's supposed to be good. Certain granitic grands crus may have a redder future.

Long day calls for good wine. 2005 @lindemans_wine Shareholders Reserve Hunter Valley Shiraz. I got this as part of a six-pack so I was hoping it was good and just blown away!
When people hear the words "Australian Shiraz", they are probably not expecting this - medium body and only 13% ABV.
The best part is that I still have 5 more bottles, and because it's under screwcap, I have no concerns that any of the others will be any different.

Another night, another aged McLaren Vale Shiraz. I recall this 2010 Warboys being quite tannic on release, but this was broad and supple, with lots of vanilla framing blueberry and boysenberry fruit. Plenty of runway left…

The sign of great quality meat is how little you need to do with it when cooking, & quality doesn’t get much better than Peter Hannan salt-aged côte de beouf.
A pinch of seasoning was all it got before going outside onto the weber, 9 mins a side then 9 mins resting.
So simple & cooked to perfection, served with garlicky green beans & shallots and a glass or two of 2016 #Guigal Saint-Joseph.
