Don’t conflate #t1diabetics and #t2diabetes. They are two different conditions with different causes and mostly different treatments. Yes, 90% of total diabetics are t2. They get the press and the research dollars. But I get so annoyed at the press (and others) claiming new information for diabetics only to find out half way through the article that it’s about t2. This is just me being a cranky old man, but geez, I wish they would rename t2.
The #Libre2 continuous blood glucose monitor is great for #T1diabetics, but I think caution about its limitations is also advised.
I felt like I was going hypo, and when I scanned the sensor it showed I was, but my phone had got disconnected from the sensor (Bluetooth issue) and the alarm hadn’t gone off to warn me. It shows just how reliant I am on the alarm, but listening to my body’s warning signs is essential too.
Today I collected my 1mth supply of #Dexcom G6 sensors from the chemist, cost me $32.10. Prior to it being on the the NDSS subsidy, this same amount would cost me $330 out of pocket. When you do that for 5 years, it adds up. Pretty cool it is much more affordable for #T1Diabetics now in Australia!
Big HELLO 👋🏽 to fellow #T1Diabetics… How’s your day been? I’ve been on this ‘roller-coaster’ ride for over 43 years. Today, REALLY scared me, I have No #HypoAwareness & if it wasn’t for #CGM & #InsulinPump screaming at me,I may have dropped lower than 3.1mmol 😲
