The degree to which this is good news cannot be overemphasized.
Huge numbers of #T2D patients are already on metformin (a.k.a. Glucophage) so we are already producing it in such absurdly high volume across enough different makers that there’s no real risk of profiteering. https://hachyderm.io/@kamihack/110889084192776538
@housepanther although diet and exercise is only part of the # diabetic #t2d health plan. I have so far found both make a huge difference. All the best. #t2diabetes #t2d
Managing blood pressure levels is vital for everyone. But for those with #diabetes it is important to be even more vigilant as over time as diabetes harms various aspects of our bodies which in turn can raise blood pressure. However, here are some exercises that can help lower it - validated by a study. In all cases please check with your own medical team before starting exercise!!
@ChristophB I find your profile very interesting, in particular the relationship between #cognitivescience and #eating. I have a personal (#t2d) and academic interest in #behaviourchange techniques... drop me a line if interest.

If you are #type2diabetic #t2d and are struggling with your new diet, don't worry it is not so difficult. One thing that works really well for me is food substitution. Rather than buying chocolate with 65% cocoa, buy 90% or higher (I now do 99% and all others feel sweet). Rather than buying white bread, buy really dark and heavy bread. Everyone is different but I have lots loads of weight and blood sugars are manageable.

@garry cutting meat consumption is vital. I am not vegetarian but have probably reduced my meat intake by around 90%. Not only is it better for the #environment but I feel #healthier and it is a lot #cheaper.
For people with #t2d #type2diabetes it also is a even healthier way forward - it is one major reason I also cut my intake of #meat.

For those of us who are #t2d #type2diabetic physical exercise is almost mandatory. However, going to the gym or other forms can be a little scary. While safe in the end (thanks to glucose tablets) yesterdays gym visit resulted in fast falling blood sugar levels. I only had this issue way back in my first few days of going to the gym. So take care if you are planning on doing some more intense exercises.

Hmm. An actual low blood sugar event that *felt * like one. Cookies to the rescue. First week on 2mg of Ozempic, too. Hmm. #t2d #Type2Diabetes #dexcomg7 #ozempic

Diabetic folks who use older models of FreeStyle Libre CGM and a reader: there's a recall on the readers. 4.2 million of them, for the original Libre, the 14 Day, and the Libre 2. The readers are apparently overheating and sometimes exploding.

There's no feeling quite like waking up unexpectedly with a blood sugar of 46... now that I've got it back up, I'm exhausted and going back to bed. #diabetes #type2diabetes #t2d
Where are my #Cooking people? My #T2D people? I made this recipe for dinner tonight and it was DELICIOUS. I did make some adjustments - I used green olives, sweet cherry tomatoes & I seasoned with Ruth Ann's Muskego Ave Chicken & Fish blend from Penzeys. Yum. Served with steamed baby gold taters & roasted Brussels sprouts w/Penzey's FL Pepper, olive oil & Balsamic vinegar.
(I like a fun Sunday dinner!)
Forgive the marketing-style press release, but good news for FreeStyle Libre users in the United States. After about six years, I finally returned to the gym today. If you are T2 diabetic, diet makes a huge difference (approx -15kg in my case). Losing so much was surprisingly easy, and I want to keep it that way, hence the gym. Good luck to everyone also trying.
Today took it out of me a bit, but nowhere near as bad as my first visit to the gym all those years ago.
