So it seems the error code means „Memory module error“, according to the Diagnostics app.
So I tried removing one RAM stick at a time, or swap slots, but it doesn’t help. It seems highly unlikely to me that both sticks just died out of nowhere. Does anyone have any experience with this / any ideas what else might be the culprit? :blobcatsob:

Though I would like a #T480 with a fingerprint sensor. But maybe I will save that for a future laptop when I grow tired of the #T480.

Today I hunt for 2 1080p monitors, they'll make a fine addition to my 1440p 27" main monitor.

The only problem is that I don't have a PC case and from what I've read the #T480 only supports up to two monitors (HDMI + Thunderbolt) so I'll probably end up using one of my old laptops and access it with #Barrier, the problem with that is that #Barrier is X11 exclusive and I'm having way too much fun with #Hyprland at the moment..

Anyone know of a Wayland compatible KVM software?

TIL how simple it is to setup #ThinkPad #UEFI #dualboot (providing one OS is #Windows)

- Install Windows, leaving space free
- Install #osOfChoice (#NetBSD in my case) into free space
- Copy preferred bootx64.efi into /EFI/Boot
- Set ThinkPad BIOS to boot from the drive, *not* "Windows Boot Manager"

Default boot is now osOfChoice

To boot Windows, press F12 and just select "Windows Boot Manager"

Confirmed on #T480 and #T430

Got myself a #T480 yesterday, i5-8350u, 8GB RAM

I mainly wanted a cheap laptop to take to college for research.

It's running Windows at the moment but I'm planning to run #debian #bookworm once the one week return time is over. In case of deficits and all.

So far I'm very pleased with it.

Anyone got any tips for #Linux on the ThinkPad?

Lenovo #T480 came in mint condition! It’s a refurb but I didn’t expect it to be this clean.

It had a licensed windows 11 pro installed but I replaced it with OpenBSD7.2 and i3-gaps as a window manager.

Only little thing I don’t like about this device is the display quality, but I am spoiled with retina displays on my Macs. It will take some getting used to.

Overall, am happy with this purchase.

Frage an die Experten: Habe an mein #Thinkpad #t480 via #Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 zwei externe Monitore per HDMI angeschlossen, die prinzipiell auch beide funktionieren. Wenn ich den Laptop in den Ruhezustand versetze bzw. wieder "aufwecke" werde die Monitore allerdings nicht mehr erkannt. Hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte? Habe bislang keine brauchbare Lösung recherchieren können.
