As I've said before, there is a good example in US #voters reticence to vote for Hilary Clinton, contribution to the victory of Donald Trump... but equally, I guess this argument may push people towards #tacticalvoting rather than not voting at all (I hope, at least)

Surprisingly thoughtful article about #HeatPumps in the UK. 
The storyline has stopped being about "5x as efficient" (which most are not) and started to be about "3x as efficient" which most are. It's also pointing out that as gas is roughly 1/3rd of the cost of electicity, an electric heat pump will still cost a much to run as a gas boiler. so they won't reduce your fuel bills. And you may have to do significant work on an existing system to make it more efficient as heat pumps only produce low grade (low temperature) heat, such as INCREASING the size of your radiators, and improving your standard of insulation (both of which are beneficial to gas boilers or heat pumps). 
So the key to widespread implemention is decoupling the cost of electricity from the cost of gas, which is wholly in the government remit, and is the reason energy companies are making HUGE amounts of profits while many struggle.

Another key take-away from Thursday's #byelections is the likely importance of #tacticalvoting - if the motive is essentially to #GTTO even among soft #Tory voters, then tactical voting will be a key trend in the next election;

As noted in the prev. post, any new Govt. will likely find its support quite soft & might be pulled in a rightwards direction by the media.

This will further disenfranchise the UK left & stoke further (angry) dissatisfaction with UK #democracy!

well, time will tell

There are three #byelections today (just in case you've been napping)

As we await the results, already the #Tories are managing expectations, and will present the expected losses as the 'usual protest vote' against the Govt.

For the main opposition parties, there will be a scramble to interpret the results (provided they go their way) as indicative of why they, rather than the other party should get your #vote.

Perhaps most interesting will be trying to track #tacticalvoting's appeal!

So #SuellaBraverman has sidestepped an ethics investigation, and has earned a rather weak reprimand from #RishiSunak about voiding the appearance of impropriety....

Yup, sure looks like integrity Rishi.... but perhaps as @davidallengreen suggested a couple of days ago, the real problem is there is not any even marginally competent (& unsullied) replacement waiting in the wings....
