As soon as you have an algorithmic feed, discussions of "shadowbanning" are moot. The way the algorithm works is to suppress some content and promote other content. That's *what it is*.

Of course it can be biased in other ways you don't like as well. But spare me the outrage: the system was working as designed. If you don't like that, perhaps move to a site which doesn't have an algorithm deciding what you see?

#Taibbi has now purged all mention of the #TwitterFiles from his bio on that foul site.

There’s a lot “what happened to #Taibbi? What happened to #GlennGreenwald?” stuff on Nazi bird app. Accusations of grift and such. Stepping back: Setting oneself up on Substack and marketing one’s work is an enterprising path. And precedented: I.F. Stone ran his excellent weekly newsletter out of his home from 1953 to 1971.

But most of us are not Stone, and even he might have benefited from another editor, at least at a copy desk, even though he was famously careful.

Now #Taibbi is out on a limb. He’s on his own, graduated from having an editor as far as we can tell, with a large following that defends him against criticism and tells him he’s great. That’s a precarious place to be. His reaction to having errors in his reporting pointed out since the #twitterfiles went live (and questions about his sourcing and independence) is to circle the wagons and conflate every criticism with the personal attacks. Bad place to be.

I think that #Taibbi is just using the Substack situation to provide an excuse for him to flee Twitter after @mehdihasan embarrassed him on TV, but of course that's an evidence-free conspiracy theory just like are his #TwitterFiles.
