Those not using TorBrowser with #uBlock added (how #TailsOs implements TorBrowser) are making a conscious decision to be tracked.

They may live in constant fear that if they are not #tracked they'll stand out as a troublemaker. Or they have shares in #DotCons (ie. corrupted), or they have close family that are. Or they believe statusQuo #technoFascism is serving them. There is NO real excuse.

TorBrowser, based on Firefox, while typically considered a darkweb browser, is a quality alternative. Even Firefox in its vanilla, un-hardened state, sends a lot of data and telemetry to Google, Cloudflare and Amazon.

An add-on that can be often used with TorBrowser is #uBlock. It is included with TorBroswer in #TailsOS, for example.

Another good addo is Block CloudFlare MITM Attack.

If you use linux, block Google with this firewall setup.

I forgot that I left 3TBs worth of hard drives in a box from 3 years ago. A handful were encrypted via #Veracrypt and I don't remember those passwords. GREAT SCOTT! Luckily, my "2020 self" prepared "2023 self" for this moment & put those passwords in #Bitwarden. No more emotional constipation.

While I was at it, I updated my #TailsOS USB. As I'm tooting this, I guess THREE is my lucky number for today; 3TB, 3 years, and 3 #OpenSource softwares. :mastodance:

If we had to rank what bothers us most it would be the inaccessible devs. The broken, invasive, walled bug and ticket tracking. Its so bad that we are scared to mention the couple that do it right.

The UX/UI can be made okay with work, but generally most student/child/journalist (#TailsOS) who are introduced to linux are exposed to the most unappealing kludge such that they will not strive to adopt it, or particularly enjoy or want to use it.

A co-worker of mine brought up a point. If #SHTF for real, electronic communications may need to be replaced with old-fashioned "sneakernet".
I could see USB drives with #TAILSos on them being passed from one cell to the next. . .

Had always kinda wanted to have a full OS on removable media (not liveboot, like the whole thing) but it only had 16gb SD cards

And then, there was #plan9, and the #9front documentation described 30 gb as a spacious build.

It's now actually viable for this one to not own a computer but to boot into its own OS and files from any it finds, which is lovely. #tailsos can sort of do this too, but feels much less personal due to the steps it takes to restrict users from leaking data
