It didn’t take much to send him into a literal tailspin. A loud noise, the wrong food, waking early. She kept her distance when that growl started low in his throat.

Boyfriends didn't last the chaos. Except Tom. But she could read the signs.

Intervention came on a Saturday morning. Tom arrived with muffins, coffee and a pamphlet. ‘I love you, Jen. But things can’t go on like this. I’ve enrolled you, me and Tailspin in Doggie Rehab.’

In my mind's eye, I visualise an image of an aircraft in flames - spinning, falling to the earth in a tailspin.

I see it as a metaphor for all the times I have second-guessed myself; trashed my intuitive inspirations by judging them as no good; felt guilt or resentment.

But I am not that aircraft, I am not those thoughts, I am not my "mind's-eye".

All of these appear within the I that a *truly* am, which is already and forever infinite, unbound, & free.

I looked down at my phone as the message pinged. Things had been great this past year as our relationship continued to blossom. She was smart, funny and kind. Sure, she wasn't perfect, but no one really is. I loved this woman, more than I had ever loved anyone.

I don't understand how she could do this to me.

This message came completely out of the blue, sending me into a rapid tailspin that I found difficult to pull up from. I had to re-read the message over and over again, completely flabbergasted at what had come through.

Surely it was a mistake, a mistyped message or a gag that she'd reply to later on. It couldn't be true. But as I kept re-reading the message, those words didn't change.

This wasn't a joke.

Emotions started to get the better of me. I had to keep it together, the other men in the workshop wouldn't look kindly on me breaking down. It's not the done thing. Holding my emotions back I took a quick break off the floor.

I had to get out of there.

I went out to my car, away from prying eyes as I was overwhelmed with emotion. Tears ran from my eyes, the dam wall overflowed and I was overcome with sadness. I couldn't control it, as pain crushed my broken heart.

I tried frantically to call her and get an explanation but she wouldn't respond. She owed me that much. How could she just cut me off? I composed myself.

Then I remembered that late night phone call I'd overhead from the bathroom.

It all made sense now.

I was going down in a #tailspin, all systems failed, out of fuel and no parachute left.

Not ready to leave but realising the necessity to accept what was coming I began to make peace with the fact.

And then there was you. With your kindness and your big heart and your open arms you did not flinch. You just stayed there, ready to catch me and then gently allow me to set my feet back on the ground.
