The Tair-3 lens came with a yellow and an orange filter, so I thought I'd give the orange one a test on a misty day. While the colour version is *very* orange, the 100% desaturated version looks pretty clear and sharp - I purposefully disabled any sharpening for this one.

Sea Eagles
I followed these 2 sea eagles to see if they would circle the nearby point - and they did - for a few moments at least.
Not the greatest pics - it's quite an overcast rainy day so I had to up the iso to 640 to get enough shutter speed for a sharp shot.

Macro attempts with a 300mm lens and every macro tube I own - ie:a full m42 set (around 50mm/2") plus both of the X mount tubes (26mm/1"). Not unusable, and these are about 1m/3' at least from the subject. Still a narrow depth of field.

I waited forever for the tern at the end of the pier to take off. It didn't, just groomed itself quite thoroughly. In the meantime, another decided to fly in and join the party, so I captured the landing instead of a takeoff.

... which is a good thing, as I really wanted to see what the new lens* was capable of. Wide open at f4.5 (with both TC's it's about f13) it resolves tree branches on the horizon some 15km/10miles away. That's good enough for me. I guess it is 840mm on apsc, equivalent to 1260mm.
* I know I said no more, but ... Really couldn't justify the price for the photosniper kit (sobbing), so it's an original from the mid 1960's.
