A female Giant Carpenter Bee (Xylocopa nigrita) from the #TaitaHills in south-east #Kenya. The males of this species are completely covered in golden hairs.
These #bees are common throughout sub-Saharan Africa where they pollinate a number of plant species & nest in tunnels which they bore into wood.
