A under reported factor in the #TaiwanElection (mainly because it’s hard to quantify), but I think many people found the incessant online attacks against DPP critics to be distasteful. Of course all sides guilty to some extent, but the party in office always looks worse.

Surprise of the night so far is the strong performances of KMT in Tainan and Pingtung, with both races within a few thousand votes at this stage. #TaiwanElection

Most competitive races so far are in Taiwan's outlying counties of Penghu, Kinmen and Lienchiang (Matsu). DPP is up by a few hundred as it tries to win back Penghu. KMT is fighting itself plus independents in the other races. #TaiwanElection
