I haven't posted in a long time, but I finished my June book for the #TranslatedLitChallenge yesterday.
The theme for June is to read a book from a place you want to visit. Now, I was in Taiwan two months ago, but I already want to go back, so what better than to read the Taiwanese book I actually bought in Taiwan!
Anyway, this book was incredible. Absolutely horrifying, but incredible and the translation choices made it all the better!

Yesterday was spent exploring one of the largest bookstores in Taipei (as far as I know). I also went to Taipei 101, but well, books seem more important.
I started a tradition last year of buying books from the countries I travel to (that are from or related to the country somehow) and this is my #BookHaul for this particular trip.
I also bought two Korean books not pictured though. Oops.

Hmmm. Qiu Miaojin's Last Words from Montmartre is probably *not* the perfect book to welcome the Year of the Rabbit with now is it? (iykyk)

We're reading Pai Hsien-yung's The Eternal Snow Beauty and A Sea of Bloodred Azaleas for class this week, and I'm struck as I always am by the way he describes people and places. A student mentioned that it felt like Hotel California. Nice to know the youth are keeping up with ancient music.
