Seems to be fully #accessible for #Screenreader users. It even has support for #Talkback actions. https://mastodon.social/@pachli/111030607167438186
#accessible #screenreader #talkback
hmm. Has anyone ever tried getting #waydroid with #talkback to work on #archlinux and got stuck with crackling and clipping instead of speach? And if yes, were you able to fix it?
#WayDroid #talkback #archlinux
Another thing I never thought I'd say is that for accessibility and efficiency, GMail appears to be the winner between the mail clients I've re-evaluated (including K-9 Mail and AquaMail). If the latter start supporting #TalkBack actions, I might change my mind.
On the topic of #Braille, I’m glad it’s now baked in and that somebody at #Google finally dispensed with the old ridiculous commands and added usable, and memorable defaults. A huge flaw, however, is that if you’re typing in a text field, none of the #TalkBack navigation commands work, except for panning the display back and forth. What the actual F, #Google?
I just tried out #Android's screenreader called TalkBack, and I've got to admit it was one of the worst digital experiences I've ever had. Not because #TalkBack was bad (it's okay), but because the #GUIs we design are not meant to be used by screenreaders at all.
Can't browsers just send a media query indicating that the visitor uses accessibility software? Just as we already have special designs for the print layout, we could additionally provide simpler designs optimised for screenreaders.
@glaroc Yes, they're accessible. The IOS app is also accessible. I'm totally blind, and I use both the IOS app and the tablet on the Peloton with no problems. The Peloton tablet runs Android and it has Talk Back installed on it.
In looking on the web, a Bike+, which is what I have, costs $2,500, but I don't recall paying that much. I doubt the price has gone up though, so we must have. The monthly subscription is $44, but I think we probably paid $40 originally. It is expensive, but we justified it since we needed a new exercise bike anyway and this would take the place of our gym memberships. My wife has since rejoined the gym, but I'm now hooked on the Peloton.
Greetings!
Just in case folks haven't heard yet, both #TalkBack and #Jieshuo, got some competition now with the #Prudence screen reader!

And for what its worth, it ain't half bad for what it is! Although, Braille/external keyboard support ain't there yet. Gotta start somewhere...

I think #kudos are in order for the devs of the #Moshidon app for #Android Unlike other #Mastodon clients I've tried for Android, Moshidon makes it clear if someone forgot to include #alt-text in their post when including media which is important for a #Talkback user like myself. Of course, alt-text descriptions are read out as you'd expect which helps make media more #accessible for all. I also think the devs deserve kudos for the way they have chosen to indicate replies, boosts & favorites within the interface which is an option you can toggle on & off as desired. Here's the link if you want to check out the app yourself, straight from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.joinmastodon.android.moshinda

One of the reasons why I can't use Android as a daily driver (audio):
Audio of me showing that TalkBack speaks while I'm trying to talk to the Google Assistant, and I eventually ask it to play some music, and it plays a nice piano remix of Chrono Trigger's Corridor of Time track on Youtube Music. Description is here cause a Mastodon client for the blind can't add media descriptions, that I know of.

This is by far the most complete and most often updated list of blind accessible android games available, but it will need to be translated from Brazilian Portuguese. Totally worth it though!

TinaSohl@mindly.social: I hooked up my new #SamsungWatchFive and it automatically installed #talkback on the watch for me.

Hmmm...
Time to see how well I can replicate either the #Chromevox and/or #Talkback keyboard experience with the #jieshuo screen reader's 'Hotkey Scheme' feature. The default has 'waaaaaaaay' too many conflicts in my view (particularly if using web browsers that support keyboard shortcuts).
And since people are able to share said keyboard layouts, anyone thought of creating a #WindowEyes or #SuperNova/#Hal layout?

@ericdq Sí, la parte de notificaciones (menú>notificaciones) no nos ha presentado ningún problema. No al menos con #VoiceOver, desconocemos su comportamiento con #TalkBack. #FT
@elmyra Well, if you use #ios, there's #voiceover. That comes preinstalled, so you don't have to do anything. But it's also the only one available for that os. If you use #android, there's #talkback, and if you're not alergic to anything chinese on principle, there's also comentry (which I might have spelt wrong). Both of them have to be installed, as far as I know. I can't say how complicated the setup might be. Since I'm not an android user, my knowledge about it is limited.
#ios #voiceover #android #talkback
So how does this make sense? I have a #Lenovo Tab M7 Kids which runs #android 11 Go and just got #talkback 14.0 yet #samsung phone’s running their fork of android 13 still have not gotten the features added in Talkback 13.1 which released in January.

for some reason, #Accessibility is broken again on #GCASH app on #Android in the #Philippines. I am trying to load up my wife's sim using the app and #Talkback is unable to activate the next button after entering the mobile number on the load screen. #Pinoy #Filipino #Pilipinas #Pinas #Blind

@FreakyFwoof @devinprater So #talkback 14.0 shows requires android 8.0 or newer in the play store which has been the case with most of the android accessibility suite things since Android 13 rolled out, before that it was all good back to android 6.0.
