🎧 A post I read today triggered memories of the year my Dad was in Vietnam.

I was 12. Dad parked me, pregnant Mom and 3 sibs in a tiny Southern town, and I was miserable. Almost any song from that year that I loved chokes me up. I searched the Billboard charts for 1969, and one song stood out from that Summer.

"Money (That's What I Want)" is a #rhythmAndBlues song written by #Tamla founder #BerryGordy and #JanieBradford, which was the first hit record for Gordy's #Motown enterprise. #BarrettStrong recorded it in 1959 as a single for the Tamla label, distributed nationally on #AnnaRecords. Many artists later recorded the tune, including #theBeatles in 1963 and #theFlyingLizards in 1979.

"Superstition" is a song by American singer-songwriter #StevieWonder. It was released on October 24, 1972, as the #leadSingle from his fifteenth studio album, #TalkingBook (1972), by #Tamla. The lyrics describe popular #superstitions and their negative effects. "Superstition" reached number one in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in January 1973 and on the soul singles chart. It was Wonder's first number-one single since "#FingertipsPt2" in 1963.

At least one radio DJ liked to put the 12" on, slip out for some "fresh air" and come back in time to jam to the last half. It's 11:52.
