While I'm glad Dr. McElroy got $1 M for this ordeal and that the ensuing transparency is good, we should all understand that the people seeking to control faculty hiring at #TAMU based on perceived political leanings *won*.

@alexwild I'm afraid this will have an impact here as well, particularly at #UTexas, but also #TAMU, and even at smaller schools like an #MSU, where potential applicants might decide to teach at UW-River Falls over coming here.

@TeamMidwest So many mis-steps along the way have given us this systemic (all systems) lack of understanding of the knowledge, skills, and values of librarians. Also, thx for reminder - I need to write to #TAMU and tell them and alumni group why I now donate to different universities.

By the way, how hard is it for people to remember that UT is in Austin and Texas A&M is in College Station? These aren't small schools. People don't call UW-River Falls "the University of Wisconsin" or UC-Merced as "The University of California," do they? Why would a journalist call Texas A&M Commerce "Texas A&M University"? #UTAustin #TAMU
